The Inspire team of staff and volunteers have been able to provide mass relief for the poor in urban and rural settings especially during Global emergencies like the Covid 19 pandemic, as well as ongoing smaller scale individual relief material or finances during phases of unemployment or health emergencies etc.
During 2020-2021, when the world was dealing with a global pandemic and everyone was struggling with pain and sickness, the Inspire team was at work through the many waves of Covid-19 virus.
With the help of our friends and partners we distributed groceries in Ghaziabad slum to 550 people, 250 people in the slums of Masoodpur, Vasant Kunj and did a one-time distribution of food packets to migrant workers leaving Delhi. Our team raised local funds, coordinated packaging and distribution of food to uplift communities severely hit by the pandemic.
During the second wave we set up a 24/7 response team that was ready to provide transportation, oxygen cylinders, medicines, arrange cremation/funeral logistics and ambulance services.
We also got the opportunity to partner with AIPF Mission Hospital in South Delhi to help and equip the hospital with certain resources. In the Bhati mines slum, we trained and equipped a resident worker who was on the field and became our first responder for the families in the slum to help with oximeters, thermometers, PPE kits, sanitizers etc.
We got around 130 people tested in our slum community in partnership with South Delhi SDM Office. We facilitated many telephonic and video consultations with doctors in partnership with a Doctors helpline, to help needy patients who did not have access to good healthcare.
Our relief work was not only limited to Delhi but went on to support communities in Kalimpong, Kolkata and Manipur. Along with our partners we provided medical relief through oxygen concentrators, oxygen masks, nasal canula, oximeters and thermometers. Our team raised funds for this relief work and was able to support hospitals in different parts of these towns and cities.
During the pandemic Inspire was able to help address other socio economic needs of the underprivilegd as well, other than medical needs.
Through our partner EFICOR, we facilitated a one time financial aid provision for daily wage laborers who are parents of the students we teach in our education programs.
In partnership with Life Centre & Response Net the project was able to provide medications and dry ration during the lockdown.
Inspire also provided groceries and food supplies which now continues to be a monthly ongoing initiative for two groups of people. The first one is in collaboration with KE Abraham foundation where we will distribute groceries on a monthly basis to 25 families over a period of 1 year as they recover financially from the effects of the pandemic.
The second is in collaboration with one of our Board Members Peter Baker and his relatives who partner with Inspire to support 9 families where the primary bread winner is visually impaired and struggles with unemployment.
